Edentity

Edentity was founded in 2000 to exploit a set of ideas about identity and data sharing that we originally referred to as Virtual Home. Since that time, we have been working to understand the technology, and also - and this is by far the more difficult task - to figure out the necessary organisational and business models, and plot a credible route to critical mass.

Back at the beginning, we seemed to be a lone voice, and every conversation had to start from scratch. But now there is significant interest in the field, and the real possibility of making progress.

As a summary of our role and purpose, we would say that:

• We are sure that IT systems are, at present, overly-organisation centric, and that the introduction of a more person-centric approach will deliver benefits to individuals and organisations alike;
• Edentity's role is to catalyse this change, and so help achieve an appropriate balance between organisation-centric and person-centric systems; and
• To be effective in this role, we need to deliver insight, innovation, and short-term benefit to our various partners.
