In 2000 Edentity filed an omnibus patent application for a set of ideas of relevance to Personal Information Brokerage. Two patents (numbers 2 359 707, and 2 365 721) were subsequently granted in the UK, and related applications are still being processed elsewhere in the world.

We are well aware that the idea of software patents is contentious, especially in areas - such as middleware - that require common standards, and ubiquity, for success.

We have no intention that Edentity's patents should prevent or delay progress, and continue to consider what form of licensing strategy will be most appropriate.
