As co-sponsors, the Information Commissioner's Office, the Technology Strategy Board, and the Cyber Security KTN have published the report of the Work Group on User-Centric Identity (and Personal Information) Management. Each sponsor agreed to support the Work Group, which was led by Edentity, because of a belief that organisations – when considering identity management and personal information sharing – have generally paid insufficient attention to the new user-centric architectures. These architectures seek to put the individual in charge of the flow of their own personal information, and so offer the prospect of joined-up services and cost-reduction while – at the same time – maintaining personal privacy. The remit of the Work Group was: (i) to determine where the field of user-centric identity management now stands and, if appropriate: (ii) attempt to reach a common view on the need for, and shape and scope of, one or more UK pilots; and (iii) summarise its findings in a brief position paper. The Work Group was well supported. A total of 46 individuals, representing organisations from across the public and private sectors, participated in the face-to-face meetings, and in the linked online discussions. A copy of the Work Group’s report can be obtained from the Download section of this website. -------------------------- |
